What Is Hifz Quran?

Hifz means memorizing the Quran by heart.

Sabaq, Sabqi & Manzil

1. Sabaq – New Lesson

Sabaq is the new portion of the Quran that the student is learning and memorizing.

The teacher helps the student read the new portion correctly, understand the reading pattern, memorize it, and recite it from memory.

The amount of new memorization depends on the student’s ability rather than simply trying to memorize as much as possible.

2. Sabqi – Recent Revision

Sabqi refers to the revision of recently memorized portions.

Regularly reviewing recent lessons helps strengthen the student’s memory and prevents newly memorized material from being forgotten.

Students recite their recent memorization to the teacher, who listens carefully and corrects mistakes.

3. Manzil – Previous Memorization

Manzil is the systematic revision of older portions that the student has already memorized.

This part is especially important for long-term retention. As the memorized portion becomes larger, students need a consistent revision routine to keep previously memorized Surahs and Juz strong.
